The Snoqualmie Sister Cities Association (SSCA) was founded 2008 with an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Although it is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, separate from the City of Snoqualmie, the association facilitates the City's sister city relationships with the cities of Gangjin, Korea and Chaclacayo, Peru.
The purpose of the Snoqualmie Sister Cities Association is to
- provide an opportunity for Snoqualmie's citizens to interact and exchange social, educational, and technical ideas within the global community;
- provide awareness of, and sensitivity to, cultural diversity;
- facilitate the sharing of municipal problem-solving expertise between the City of Snoqualmie and its sister cities; and
- develop business and economic ties in Snoqualmie and other parts of the world.
The primary activities of the association has been to support cultural exchanges between the cities of Snoqualmie, Gangjin, and Chaclacayo. Nearly 300 high school students have traveled in this program, studied in sister city high schools, enjoyed home stays, made international friends and "siblings", and had amazing, life-changing experiences, not to mention a lot of fun!
