In an email sent October 30 to community leaders across King County, Patty Hayes, Director of Public Health – Seattle & King County, emphasized that COVID-19 cases are increasing in King County. There was a downward trend in September, but now case numbers are spiking across the county to more than 200 per day with a 9.2% rate of hospitalization and a 2.9% death rate.
Ms. Hayes wrote, “While this is a very alarming trend, there is still time to turn this around before we enter a crisis mode. This is a critical moment in the trajectory of the pandemic, but we can avoid the kinds of scenarios we are seeing playing out in other parts of the country, where case numbers are exploding and hospitals are at capacity or even over capacity.”
According to the King County Daily COVID-19 Dashboard, the infection rate in Snoqualmie is reported at 112 cases in total since March, 13 of those in the past 14 days. There have been three hospitalizations, and zero deaths. These numbers are not high, but they are trending upward quickly.
“It’s critical we stop the spread in Snoqualmie,” stated Mayor Matt Lason. “My greatest fear is that a new spike will result in repeated shutdowns that would be devastating for our local small businesses. Please do your part to slow the spread to protect our neighbors and local economy.”
