In the upcoming general election on November 2, Snoqualmie voters will decide whether to approve or reject Snoqualmie Proposition 1, which would approve a two-tenths of one percent sales and use tax to replace the $40 annual vehicle license fee – also known as the car tab fee.
If Snoqualmie voters approve Proposition 1, the City Council would repeal the $40 annual vehicle license fee, also known as the car tab fee. The vehicle license fee is paid only by vehicle owners residing in Snoqualmie, whereas the sales tax would apply to residents and non-residents alike.
The 0.2% sales and use tax, which equates to 20 cents per 100 dollars spent on taxable goods and services, would be used for local transportation projects included in the City’s adopted transportation plans.
The $40 vehicle license fee would be repealed as of March 31, 2022, the day before the sales tax would become effective on April 1, 2022.

Individuals interested in serving on either a pro committee or con committee must complete the online application by Monday, July 19 at noon. After appointment, both committees work independent of the City to prepare written statements advocating either approval or rejection of the proposition, which will be included in the King County Voters’ Pamphlet.
