[ARCHIVED] Snoqualmie Skate Jam Will Celebrate the New Skatepark

This is the Snoqualmie Skate Jam Poster.

Snoqualmie Skate Jam Showcases New Skatepark

The Snoqualmie Skatepark opened last fall, but the Grand Opening is coming up on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at Snoqualmie Community Park, 35016 SE Ridge St.

Mayor Matt Larson and Snoqualmie City Council Members will join kids of all ages for a ribbon cutting followed by professional demos, music, pizza, and prizes, such as skateboards, hoodies, and Zumiez gift certificates.

The skatepark was custom designed for the City of Snoqualmie by Grindline, which constructs skateparks across the country.

After the Skate Jam, head over to the Snoqualmie Valley Bicycle Safety Rodeo in the Snoqualmie Community Center/YMCA parking lot from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be fun, instructional obstacle courses to help children learn correct riding skills, bicycle and helmet inspections, free ice cream, and games.

Skatepark Funding
King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert secured $176,000 in funding from King County. Senator Mark Mullet championed another $175,000 in funding from the State of Washington Recreation Conservation Office. Additional funding was provided by the YMCA of Greater Seattle, King County 1% for the Parks, King County Youth Sports Facilities, Square One Distribution, RH2 Engineering, and private donations.
