Study Shows Significant Speeding in Snoqualmie School Zones

News & Announcements Posted on February 12, 2026

Residents have shared concerns in recent months about speeding in school zones, specifically along Meadowbrook Way near Mount Si High School, Park Street near Mt. Si High School, and Snoqualmie Parkway near Timber Ridge Elementary.

In response, the Snoqualmie Police Department increased targeted enforcement in those areas, issuing a higher number of warnings and infractions. Despite those efforts, officers and community members continue to observe concerning levels of speeding.

To better quantify the issue, the Department had a three-day speed study conducted from September 23–25, 2025. Over that period, thousands of vehicles were recorded exceeding the 20-mph school zone speed limit at speeds above 26 mph. Two particularly alarming incidents were documented on Snoqualmie Parkway: one vehicle traveling 93 mph eastbound and another at 86 mph westbound.

The study will be presented to the City Council’s Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, February 17 at 5:00 p.m., along with a discussion of potential traffic safety measures and next steps. The public is welcome to attend all City Council committee meetings, and public comment will be accepted in person.
