January 1, 2024 - Suspicous Activity
While on routine patrol in the area of the Edgewick Inn in North Bend, an officer observed a vehicle parked in a no-parking area. As the officer approached the vehicle, he recognized that it was the same vehicle that had fled from him the week prior. The vehicle is registered to a female who is associated with a male with multiple warrants out for his arrest. As the officer got closer, the officer saw that both the female and male were in the vehicle. Upon seeing the officer, the female started the vehicle. The officer ordered her to stop and placed a tire deflation device in front of the driver’s side rear tire. The female ignored the officer and pulled out, causing one of the tires to deflate. Multiple officers followed the vehicle as it got on to westbound I-90 and observed the rear tire completely come off the vehicle, causing it to swerve. The vehicle continued to exit 32 and took a right onto 436th Ave. Due to the danger posed by the continued operation of the vehicle, as well as the active warrants for the male suspect, an officer trained on the precision immobilization technique (PIT) executed a successful PIT maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a halt. Officers quickly secured the scene and ordered both suspects out of the vehicle multiple times, but the suspects refused. Officers then proceeded to break the vehicle's passenger window and remove the suspects. Although the male suspect resisted arrest, officers were able to successfully detain both suspects. The female was charged with Failure to Obey a Police Officer and Reckless Driving, while the male was charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.
