Snoqualmie, North Bend Vehicle Prowl Incidents Increase; Lock Doors and Remove Valuables

News & Announcements Posted on June 14, 2022

In recent weeks, the Snoqualmie Police Department has seen an increase in vehicle prowls in North Bend and Snoqualmie. A majority of these incidents were crimes of opportunity, involving unlocked vehicles with visible items located inside.

Vehicle prowls are one of the most common and preventable crimes that occur in the cities of North Bend and Snoqualmie. The Snoqualmie Police Department would like to remind residents of easy steps to help prevent vehicle prowls, along with potential vehicle damage and stolen property.

Tips to Prevent Vehicle Prowls

  • Whenever possible, park in a garage; secure location; or in a well-lit area where your vehicle can be seen.
  • Roll up windows; lock your vehicle; arm the alarm/anti-theft system if equipped.
  • Do NOT leave any valuables in plain sight.
  • Remove or hide anything a prowler might mistake as worth stealing.
  • Secure your vehicle trunk, hatches, bed-mounted toolboxes, and canopies.

“Small habits can make a big difference when it comes to preventing property crime,” explained Snoqualmie Police Chief Perry Phipps. “Locking vehicles and removing valuables are key preventative steps residents can take to reduce vehicle prowls in our communities.”

Residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1 if they notice suspicious activity or witness a car prowl.
