On Nov. 28, 2022, the Snoqualmie City Council adopted the 2023-24 Biennial Budget to fund the City for the next two years. The budget adoption followed extensive Council review and deliberation over the course of three months and 13 meetings.
The $161.5 million, two-year budget includes $44.3 million for the General Fund to maintain the City’s high level of service and $67.2 million in long-term, citywide capital investments.
The City’s balanced budget works to mitigate the impact of inflationary increases on finances while reflecting careful and cautious revenue forecasts, the newly adopted Financial Management Policy, and strategic City Council priorities including:
- Fiscal Transparency and Operational Stability
- Community Safety
- Quality of Life Enhancements
- Economic Vibrancy
- Neighborhood Livability
- Transportation and Infrastructure Investments
The City’s General Fund accounts for government activities such as: police, fire, and emergency medical services; community planning and development; economic development; street and park maintenance; as well as human services – all which enhance the high quality of life Snoqualmie residents enjoy and expect.
The budget’s Enterprise Funds provide for clean drinking water; sewage collection and treatment; and stormwater management to protect public health and maintain a clean environment. Additionally, the budget’s Non-Utilities Capital Fund - which incorporates the first two years of the recently adopted Capital Improvement Plan – makes long-term investments in parks, transportation, and facilities to preserve the City’s infrastructure and quality of life.
“The entire budget process demonstrated the teamwork and diligence of City staff and the City Council,” said Mayor Katherine Ross. “I am encouraged by the strength of our local community as we recover from pandemic-related financial challenges. As we look to the future, I am confident this balanced budget is fiscally responsible and places the City on a good footing for a strong economic future.”
