The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Snoqualmie Valley from 7pm, Dec. 19 through 7pm, Dec. 20, with the potential for very cold temperatures, heavy snow, and difficult travel.
City of Snoqualmie Public Works crews are preparing for the potential of a foot of snow during this predicted 24-hour winter weather event - and are ready to respond.
Additionally, due to this potential inclement weather, and for the safety of employees, City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022.
Public Works crews are closely monitoring conditions and will actively plow if/when snow begins, and throughout the event. The City has six snowplows, which includes two large plows that cannot access smaller neighborhood streets.
During large snow events, plows often can only focus on highest priority routes, including main arterials and bus routes to provide safe access to first responders, transit, school buses, and motorists. When conditions allow, plow drivers will move to lower priority routes.
Due to the amount of snow forecast with this next winter weather system, crews may not be able to address neighborhood side streets as quickly as they did during Sunday’s snow. Your patience is appreciated.
Be prepared for winter driving: As evident during Sunday evening’s snow - when many drivers became stuck on Snoqualmie Parkway - driving conditions can change quickly. If you have to drive, please monitor weather and road conditions and plan your route accordingly; give yourself plenty of time so you can drive safely for conditions; and clear snow and ice from your vehicle before driving.

- Follow City social media channels
- Give snowplows extra space to work.
- Park in your driveway for optimal plowing.
- Clear sidewalks in front of your home or business.
- Keep children out of streets.
- Clear debris from storm drains.
- If walking in streets due to impassable sidewalks, walk facing traffic.
