On March 5, 2019, Snoqualmie Police officers responded to an urgent care facility in North Bend, WA regarding an unresponsive 6-month-old child who had been brought in and medical staff were performing CPR. The baby was transported by medics to Seattle Children’s Hospital for further care. The baby was declared brain dead by physicians at Seattle Children’s and passed away a few days later. According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Report the baby died of “…inflicted injury of the head and neck. The manner of death is homicide”.
This case remained on the minds of Snoqualmie Police officers and following a review of the investigation documents, was re-opened in August 2022. Following additional work with the King County Prosecutor’s Office, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Seattle Children’s physicians, probable cause was established by CSPA Major Crimes Detectives to arrest a male suspect, who was arrested by the Tacoma Police Dept. on March 9, 2023 and booked into the King County Jail.
This case remains under investigation as detectives and the prosecutor’s office finalize the details of this case. We greatly appreciate the hard work from the King County Prosecutor’s Office, King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Seattle Children’s staff, and the Tacoma Police Department for their assistance. The Snoqualmie Police Department will be the source of additional information on this case.
