City Recognizes National Preparedness Month, Encourages All Residents to Plan Ahead for Emergencies

National Preparedness Month Graphic

Mayor Ross has proclaimed September National Preparedness Month in Snoqualmie and encourages all residents and businesses to plan ahead for emergencies and disasters. With an emergency preparedness plan in place, the risk of injury and loss is reduced, and the demand on emergency responders decreases.

Start a Communication Plan
Organize emergency contact numbers and identify an emergency meeting location with forms available at www.ready.gov/plan-form.

Create an Emergency Kit
Store several days of basic essentials including water, non-perishable food, emergency contact information, cash, prescription medications, flashlights, a battery-powered radio, extra batteries, a manual can opener, baby supplies, and pet supplies. Have at least one gallon of water per person, per day, for at least three days for drinking and sanitation. Also store emergency supplies in your car. An emergency kit checklist is available at www.ready.gov/kit.
