Make an Impact - Volunteer for a Commission with the City of Snoqualmie

Make an impact on your community! The City has vacancies on the Arts, Civil Service, Parks and Events, and Salary commissions. Learn more about each, including the goals, length of service, and meeting dates. 

Arts Commission

This commission develops and supports public programs for the arts, advises the city on permanent public art installations, and helps develop popular events like the Plein Air Paint Out and other art festivals.  The commission consists of seven members who must reside within the City.  Commission members serve four-year terms.  The opening on this commission, Position 2, expires January 31, 2028. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 5:30 pm at City Hall and remotely via Zoom.

 Civil Service Commission

The Civil Service Commission ensures equitable treatment of fire and police officers employed by the City. The commission oversees testing for police and fire positions, promotional exams, and hears appeals of disciplinary actions.  The commission is made up of five members who serve six-year terms. The current opening, Position 3, expires March 31, 2030.  Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 5 pm at City Hall and remotely via Zoom.

Parks and Events Commission

This commission advises the City Council regarding many aspects of city parks, recreational facilities, and programs. They also advise regarding conduct of recreation and cultural activities held for the public. The commission is made up of five members who must reside within the City.  Commission members serve four-year terms.  These commission openings, for Position 2 and Position 4, expire February 28, 2028. Meetings are held the third Monday of each month, 7 pm, at City Hall and remotely via Zoom.

The Salary Commission

The Salary Commission reviews and adjusts the salaries for the elected officials (Mayor and City Council members) and performs the duties established by RCW 35.21.015. The commission is made up of three members who reside within the City and who are registered voters in Snoqualmie.  The current opening is for Position 1. Commission members serve three-month terms during even-numbered years. Meetings are held as needed.
