The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Snoqualmie Valley, in effect Tuesday afternoon November 19, 2024, through early Wednesday morning, November 20, 2024.
A strong storm system off the coast of Washington is expected to result in a significant wind event for cities like Snoqualmie, located near gaps in the Cascade Mountain range.
East to southeast winds of 30-40 MPH are forecast, along with gusts up to 65 MPH. The strongest winds are predicted to occur between 5 pm Tuesday, November 19, and 3 am Wednesday, November 20. Power outages are expected with the storm.
Snoqualmie residents are encouraged to exercise caution and stay home during this weather event as damaging winds could knock down trees and power lines. The safest place during strong wind events is inside, on the lower levels of your home, and away from windows.
Residents should also prepare for a power outage by preparing generators (if you have one), charging phones and other electronic devices, and packing an emergency supply kit with batteries, flashlights, nonperishable food, water, and medications.
The City’s Emergency Management and Public Works Departments are preparing to respond as needed to this weather event. Public Works crews will be deployed to address any downed trees once it is determined safe to do so.
In the event of a downed tree, please report it by calling the Stormwater & Urban Forestry Division emergency line at (425) 736-1613. For other emergencies, please call 9-1-1.
You can sign up for emergency alerts on the City website to stay informed during inclement weather events.
