Traffic Advisory: Westbound I-90 Down to One Lane in Issaquah, Sept 12-14

News & Announcements Posted on September 04, 2025

Snoqualmie residents should expect traffic delays if traveling on I-90 through Issaquah during weekends in September. For the first in the series of weekend work, WSDOT will reduce westbound I-90 to one lane around-the-clock, Sept. 12-14 to repair three bridges in Issaquah.

WSDOT warns drivers traveling through the area to expect significant delays during busy travel times and to consider alternative routes. Please be advised, the work requires dry weather and is subject to rescheduling.

Bridge Repair Details
During the Sept. 12-14 lane reductions, crews will close up to the left three lanes of westbound I-90 from east of the East Sunset Way off-ramp to west of the Front Street on-ramp (mileposts 18 to 16), leaving one open lane for through traffic. Crews will replace aging pavement and waterproof membranes and repair bridge expansion joints on the left half of two bridges in the Issaquah area.

The East Sunset Way on-ramp to westbound I-90 will close at the same time. A signed detour will guide people to the 270th Avenue SE/SE High Point Way on-ramp to westbound I-90.

The right half of the bridges will receive repairs during another lane reduction Sept. 19-21. Two more weekend westbound I-90 lane reductions are expected later this fall. Details on those lane reductions will be released when they are finalized.

Crews are scheduled to reduce westbound I-90 to a single lane for two more weekends to make similar repairs on two other bridges in Issaquah. The work will extend the useful life of the bridges, which were originally built in 1970 and 1971. The bridge work is part of a project already making pavement repairs along westbound I-90 in Issaquah.

Real-time travel information is available via the WSDOT mobile app, the WSDOT travel map or by signing up for WSDOT's email updates.
