Mayor Larson Announces Vaccination Mandate for Snoqualmie Staff

News & Announcements Posted on August 24, 2021

Snoqualmie, WA – Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson informed citywide staff that COVID-19 vaccinations are required as of October 18, 2021. This would require a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine be received by October 3, 2021 or sooner.

In an email to city staff, Mayor Larson wrote, “After careful consideration of Governor Inslee’s recent proclamation and consultation with the City Administrator and senior staff, I have decided to require that all employees and volunteers in all departments of the City of Snoqualmie have a COVID-19 vaccination as a qualification for employment with or volunteer work for the City. This will provide the best available protection for City employees, your families, and those in the community against COVID-19 and the very contagious Delta variant.”

In recent months, two City of Snoqualmie employees have been hospitalized with symptoms of COVID-19 and one City division had to be quarantined after exposure to an infected employee.

Mayor Larson further wrote, “The ability to provide essential City services while also maintaining a safe working environment necessitates additional steps.”

Employees may make requests for a reasonable accommodation exemption based on a medical condition, disability, or for sincerely held religious beliefs. Those individuals will be required to undergo twice-weekly COVID-19 tests.
