FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How much will my permit cost?
For building permits, the Permit Fee and Plan Review Fee are based on valuation (market labor and material costs). Mechanical, plumbing, and fire permit fees are based on the number of fixtures, systems, or devices being installed or modified.
Visit the fees page to determine which fees are applicable to your project.
What is the permit review timeline?
The Building Department processes permit applications in the order they are received. Reviews typically take between 4 to 6 weeks. However, timelines vary depending on the project's scope, complexity, and the volume of applications ahead of yours. If you have questions about review time, please call the Building Department at 425-888-5435 or email PermitTech@snoqualmiewa.gov.
What is the permit resubmittal process?
Once you receive comments back on your plans, please review all items noted in the marked plans and revise your permit submittal as necessary. Send all resubmittals to PermitSubmittal@snoqualmiewa.gov. If any of the files exceed 25MB, please provide them via a downloadable link. We will confirm receipt once your submission has been received. Be sure to include the permit number in the subject line of your email.
What are the construction hours?
The allowable hours for construction activities shall be between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, and between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Do I Need to Hire a Licensed Contractor?
Property owners may perform work on their own property. If you hire a contractor, they must hold an active contractor license in the state of Washington.
To verify a contractor's license, please visit the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries website. You can also find information on contractor hiring laws on the same site.
