January 16, 2024 - Vehicle Prowl Report
While on routine patrol, an officer was dispatched to a vehicle theft report. The reporting party stated at 9:15 am, she parked her vehicle at Snoqualmie Point Park and headed up the trail. At around 12:15 pm, she and her husband came back to the car and noticed that the vehicle’s windows had been smashed. The victim had asked another person at the park if they had seen the crime take place, but they did not. The victim stated that multiple clothing items, a lunch box, and a set of house keys were stolen. The officer wrote a report and gave the case number to the victim for her records. There is no suspect information at this time.
January 16, 2024 - Vehicle Theft-in-Progress
At around 12pm, an officer was dispatched to a vehicle theft in-progress at Snoqualmie Valley Hospital. Dispatch reported that a white pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot. The truck was last seen heading towards Snoqualmie Parkway. The reporting party said that she was sitting in her car when she witnessed a male get into her boyfriend's work truck. She tried to confront the suspect, but the male fled from the scene. Officers reviewed the camera footage of the incident and had dispatch list the vehicle as stolen.
January 17, 2024 - Non-injury Accident
An officer was dispatched to an accident report with no injuries that had occurred earlier that day near downtown North Bend. A subject called and reported that with the weather being icy that morning, they had slid into a parked truck. The subject returned to the scene later to try to exchange information with the truck, but it was gone. The subject left insurance information with the police department in order to possibly exchange information later. The officer drove out to the location of the accident to try to locate the truck, but he could not find it.
January 18, 2024 - Welfare Check
Around 10am, an officer observed an individual who was bundled up in blankets standing under a pavilion at Torguson Park to stay out of the weather. The weather was rough, with below freezing temperatures and snowing with high wind. Upon questioning the individual, it became known to the officer that the individual did not have a place to stay out of the weather. The officer drove to the local shelter to find resources for the subject. The officer spoke with a shelter employee and found out that local motels were offering places to stay, but there were no vacancies. The officer continued to search for a spot for the individual and found out through speaking with another officer that a room was available at the Sunset Motel. The officer transported the individual to the motel where he stayed overnight.
January 19, 2024 - Suspicious Vehicle
An officer was on routine patrol at the North Bend Outlet Mall when he noticed a running vehicle with no license plates. There were two visible occupants in the vehicle and there appeared to be drug paraphernalia around the center console. The officer requested that the driver roll down the window, but instead the driver put the car into drive. Due to it being a possible DUI situation, the officer went back to his vehicle to retrieve a terminator, which is a tool used to slowly deflate the tires of a vehicle when run over. The vehicle then decided to speed off and almost hit the officer as it skidded past him in the icy conditions. The officer followed the vehicle onto westbound I-90. As the vehicle took exit 25, the officer activated emergency lights to attempt to pull the vehicle over. The driver continued south onto SR 18. Due to Washington State law, the officer terminated his pursuit and headed back to city limits.
January 19, 2024 - Traffic Stop
While performing an area check at Snoqualmie Point Park, an officer noticed a red SUV parked with male and female occupants. As the officer drove past, he noticed that the registration on the vehicle was expired. At that same time, he also noticed that the male and female swapped places in the vehicle. The vehicle then began to leave the park heading toward I-90. The officer conducted a traffic stop due to the vehicle’s expired tabs. Once the officer contacted the occupants, he asked if the male would provide him with his name or identification, but he refused. The officer then asked the female to step out of the vehicle so the officer could observe her movements as there was suspicion of her being under the influence of intoxicants. Once the female was asked to step out, the male identified himself with a name, but the name provided turned out to be someone else. It was later determined that the name was the male’s brother. Officers then arrested the male for false statements to an officer. Once placed in handcuffs, the suspect gave his real name. Dispatch reported that the male had multiple outstanding warrants. He was transported to King County Jail on his warrants.
January 19, 2023 - Traffic Stop
At around 4:30pm, an officer was conducting an area check at Snoqualmie Point Park when he noticed a pickup truck exiting the park. The officer observed three occupants in the vehicle and an expired registration. The officer then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in which all three occupants were not wearing seatbelts. Dispatch reported that all the occupants had warrants for their arrest and were detained by the officer. While searching the suspects, the female stated that there weren’t any firearms in the vehicle even though the officers didn’t ask if there were any. Given the information provided, the vehicle was then towed to the police department pending a search warrant. Two out of the three occupants were booked into jail on their warrants. One suspect was released due to jail staffing issues at the Pierce County Jail, with his warrant remaining active.
January 19, 2024 - Traffic Stop
An officer was on routine patrol on North Bend Way when he noticed a vehicle towing a large load, with a headlight not illuminating properly. The officer attempted to perform a traffic stop. At this time, the vehicle made an abrupt turn into a gas station. The officer activated his emergency lights and made a traffic stop. The driver exited and walked over to the passenger side of the vehicle where he lit a cigarette. The officer informed the driver that this was a traffic stop and that he needed to get back into the vehicle. The driver was visibly agitated and refused to follow orders. Officers waited for compliance and when the driver got back into the vehicle, the officer explained the reason for the traffic stop. After receiving identification of the driver and the passenger, the officer determined that the driver had a suspended license and no proof of insurance. The driver was given a citation for driving on a suspended license.
January 20, 2024 - Suspicious Vehicle
At around 7pm, officers were performing routine patrol on Mill Pond Road when a red light in the brush was observed. The officer noticed a black pickup truck backed into the brush with no front bumper or front plate. Moments later, a male walked out of the brush toward the truck. Officers announced their presence and contacted the male who stated that the truck was his and that he was just cutting up firewood. Seconds later, another male - a friend of the first male - came out of the brush. Officers walked to the area that both men came from and found a couple of axes and a chainsaw. Officers explained to the men that they couldn't just cut trees down without a permit or permission from the property owner. Both males were then asked to remove the wood from the back of their truck and leave the premises immediately. The males were informed that they would receive citations in the mail for theft in the third degree for timber theft.
January 21, 2024 - Weapons Offense
Officers responded to a weapons offense at the North Bend train depot where a man threatened and swung a knife at another man. The victim was riding his bike by the train depot when the suspect came out from behind a corner and threatened to kill him. The man swung his knife at the victim, but did not make contact. The suspect then ran off. Officers were not able to locate the suspect, but forwarded charges to him.
