Membership

The Civil Service Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor. Members serve six-year terms pursuant to RCW 41.12.030 and are eligible for reappointment.

Duties

The Civil Service Commission has the following duties and powers:  To ensure equitable treatment of fire and police officers by the City. The commission oversees testing for police and fire positions, promotional exams, and hears appeals of disciplinary actions.
