[ARCHIVED] Public Invited to Provide Comments on Proposed Budget and Property Tax Levy, Nov. 14

The Snoqualmie City Council will host two public hearings at its Nov. 14, 2022, regular hybrid Council meeting, starting at 7pm.

Those public hearing topics include the Proposed 2023-24 Biennial Budget and the 2023 Property Tax Levy and Revenue Sources.

See the Proposed 2023-24 Biennial Budget HERE.

As required by law, each year the City Council must approve an ordinance estimating the amount of revenue that will be raised on the assessed valuation of property located within the City limits.

Per Washington State law, taxing districts cannot increase their annual levy by more than 1% collected in the previous year.  For property owners in the City of Snoqualmie, approximately nine taxing districts contribute to annual King County property tax bills, with the largest portion – roughly 60% - supporting schools. Only 20% of Snoqualmie property owner tax bills support City services, including police, fire, streets, parks, and more.

The City’s proposed 2023-24 Biennial Budget includes an allowed 0.83% property tax increase – totaling $69,895 – over last year’s collected amount.

Residents may provide feedback on the 2023-24 Budget, as well as the 2023 Property Tax Levy and Revenue Sources either in-person, virtually, or by submitting written comments to the City Clerk. Written comments will be accepted until such time that the public hearing is adjourned on Nov. 14, 2022.

Written comments should be mailed to: City Clerk, PO Box 987, Snoqualmie, WA, 98065; or emailed to cityclerk@snoqualmiewa.gov. Please include “Nov. 14 Public Hearing Comment” in the subject line.

The November 14 City Council Meeting agenda, and instructions to access the online meeting option, will be available on or before November 11 at: https://snoqualmie-wa.municodemeetings.com/ .
