[ARCHIVED] Expect Delays Entering and Exiting Some Ridge Neighborhoods for Parkway Paving, Aug. 14-17

Snoqualmie Parkway Rehab Project Traffic Advisory Graphic

UPDATE  |  AUG. 9:  The below news release has been updated to reflect a third paving delay due to the overnight rain forecast on Aug.9/10. Due to the rain forecast, there will be no paving on Thursday, Aug. 10. Hence, the paving schedule below has been updated with new dates.

Residents of the Woody Creek, Braeburn, Better Way, Koinonia neighborhoods, as well as residents who use SE 96th Street to access their homes, should expect delays while Snoqualmie Parkway is repaved on Aug. 8 and 10, and August 14-16. The City encourages residents of these neighborhoods to plan for extra travel time.

While contractor crews working for the City repave Snoqualmie Parkway, drivers should expect delays at the below intersections when turning onto and off of access roads of neighborhoods along Snoqualmie Parkway. These neighborhoods only offer one access road. As such, no detour route is available while new asphalt is poured, compacted, and cooled at these intersections. The City estimates delays could be 30-60 minutes once intersection paving has commenced. Contractor crews will provide emergency access if needed, though.

  • SE 96th Street: Paving work scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 8 and Tuesday, Aug. 15, between 7 am and 5:30 pm.
  • Fisher Ave SE (Woody Creek LN side): Paving work scheduled Monday, Aug. 14, **start time estimated between 10 am and noon; and Thursday, Aug. 17, between 7 am and 5:30 pm.
  • Orchard Ave SE: Paving work scheduled Monday, Aug. 14, **start time estimated between 11 am and 1pm; and Thursday, Aug. 17, between 7 am and 5:30 pm.
  • Better Way Loop SE: Paving work scheduled Monday, Aug 14, **start time estimated between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm; and Thursday, Aug. 17 between 7 am and 5:30 pm.

**These are rough, estimated start times for Monday, Aug. 14, which could vary depending on weather, traffic, paving pace, and other unforeseen circumstances. The intent with these estimates is to help neighborhood residents with planning.**

City staff will also place signage noting potential traffic delays at the above affected intersections.

The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding while this important transportation improvement project is completed.

Snoqualmie Parkway Rehabilitation Project
The City’s important capital improvement project is rehabilitating the pavement and intersection ADA ramps and curbs of the 3.5-mile-long Snoqualmie Parkway. The approximate $3.75 million, three-month project began the week of June 19 and is being funded by a one-time state grant.
