[ARCHIVED] Calling all Artists! Join the 2019 Plein Air Paint Out

2018 Winning Work by Tawny Fawn

Snoqualmie, WA – The Snoqualmie Arts Commission invites artists of all mediums to attend the 11th Annual Snoqualmie Plein Air Paint Out on Saturday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during Snoqualmie Railroad Days in Historic Downtown Snoqualmie.

Adult artists of all skill levels – from first-time painters to long-time lovers of the craft – are invited to paint “en plein air,” or in the open air.

Prizes & Winning Works Announced at Artist Reception
At an artist reception following the event at 3 p.m., the Snoqualmie Arts Commission will determine first, second, and third-place winning works. This free reception is open to the public at the Black Dog Arts Café, 8062 Railroad Ave SE.

The first-place winner will be featured on the 2020 Plein Air Paint Out poster with $300 artwork purchase. Second and third-place winners are awarded $200 and $100 gift certificates respectively to Daniel Smith Art Supplies. Posters of past years’ winning works will also be available for purchase at the Railroad Park Gazebo at 7971 Railroad Ave SE.

Registration and Requirements
Artists may register in advance at Eventbrite, or on the day of the event.

  • Event registration is free.
  • No business license needed.
  • No commissions taken from paintings sold the day of the event.
  • Painters must be actively working on paintings on-site and not solely selling artwork.

All artists must check-in on the day of the event at the Railroad Park Gazebo, 7971 Railroad Ave SE (corner of Railroad Ave SE and SE King St) before beginning their work. Blank watercolor paper or blank canvas must be stamped upon check-in to qualify. Competing works must be started the day of the event and completed by 3 p.m.

Kids’ Paint Junction

Kids are invited to participate in a free art event called the Kids’ Paint Junction, where free art materials will help them create their own masterpieces. Check in with the Snoqualmie Arts Commission at the gazebo and they’ll direct you to the Junction!
