[ARCHIVED] Prevent Theft of Seasonal Package Deliveries and Car Prowls

Snoqualmie, WA – As online shopping ramps up for the holidays, it’s important to decrease chances of potential package delivery theft.

Ways to avoid theft include: requiring a signature of delivery receipt; shipping packages to a location where someone will receive them, such as a workplace or a neighbor; or having a company deliver to pick-up boxes at local retail locations.

When on vacation, notify the post office to stop mail and package delivery until you return home.

Car prowls can also be a problem in residential neighborhoods, retail districts, and shopping malls. Lock vehicles every time they are unattended, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Do not leave valuables or shopping bags in view. Instead, remove them from the car or store them in the trunk.

Park vehicles in highly visible, well-lit locations, preferably in closed and locked garages. When not parked in a garage, remove remote garage door openers to avoid home entry.

If you see suspicious behavior or have any concerns, call 911 to be connected with a Snoqualmie Police Officer.
