The annual Red, White & Boom fireworks event in Snoqualmie has been postponed due to Governor Inslee’s Safe Start proclamation and phased approach to reopening. As the phases progress, the event organizer, Serve Snoqualmie, will announce a new date.
Safe and Sane fireworks will still be available for purchase from local fireworks stand beginning June 28 at Noon. Firework stands will be located in the parking lot behind the Snoqualmie Library and in the Safeway Parking lot.
All fireworks purchased at a firework stand in Snoqualmie are legal within Snoqualmie. Fireworks stands in other cities might possibly sell fireworks that are banned in Snoqualmie: aerial devices including bottle rockets and missiles; firecrackers; and explosive devices. These have a greater chance of causing injuries, structure fires, and wildfires.
New Safety Measures due to COVID-19
The usual safety measures for fireworks are important, such as keeping buckets of water and a fire extinguisher nearby; having only adults light fireworks; light only one firework at a time; never pick up or try to relight a firework that didn’t fully ignite; considering pet safety and security; and teaching children “stop, drop, and roll” If their cloths catch on fire. Also, safer alternatives to fireworks should be considered, such as glow sticks, confetti poppers, and colored streamers.
With the coronavirus and threat of spreading COVID-19, there are added safety measures to take:
- Stay home if you are sick.
- Keep gatherings to no more than five people outside a single household.
- Maintain at least six feet of social distancing with people outside a single household.
- Wear a mask or face covering.
- Wash your hands often.
