[ARCHIVED] Snoqualmie Wastewater Treatment Plant Earns Performance Award

Snoqualmie Wastewater Treatment Plant Earns Performance Award

City Honored with Ecology Award for Second Year in a Row

Snoqualmie, WA – The Washington Department of Ecology announced the winners of the annual Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance Award for 2019, repeating treatment plant honors it received in 2018.

Said Vincent McGowan, Department of Ecology Water Quality Program Manager, “Your excellent record is a credit to the dedicated operators who are responsible for running this award-winning plant.”

The Department of Ecology evaluated more than 300 plants operating in Washington to determine if they were meeting state pollution limits and permit requirements, which include monitoring, reporting, spill prevention planning, pretreatment, and operational demands.

The City of Snoqualmie wastewater treatment plant reached full compliance for all criteria.

The Parks & Public Works Wastewater Treatment Division focuses on system reliability to protect public health and the environment, along with sewer capacity expansion to meet the growing needs of Snoqualmie.

Snoqualmie’s water treatment facility treats reclaimed wastewater to such a high level that it can be used safely for non-drinking water purposes such as landscape irrigation, heating and cooling, and industrial processing, among others.

The City of Snoqualmie continues to pursue and reach high standards through many existing and new wastewater projects included in the 2017-2022 Utilities Capital Improvement Plan.

More information about the award and why Snoqualmie earned an A+ rating is posted on the Department of Ecology blog.
